Leganés Spain

Leganés is a city in central Spain and part of the greater Madrid metropolitan area. Mainly a satellite city, it had a population of 186,066 as of January 1, 2009, and is located about 11 km southwest of central Madrid. Leganés is home to a campus of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, founded in 1989, specifically the Escuela Politécnica Superior (EPS), which offers degrees in Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, and many other fields. Universidad Carlos III is recognized as a leading institution for research and teaching among Spanish universities. The university’s other campuses are in Getafe and Colmenarejo, but the Leganés campus is the only one with a sports center. The student residence in Leganés, called Fernando Abril Martorell, has capacity for about 300 students.
